stressed and feeling sick

by debt kid on June 19, 2007

I’m stressed and I have a awful sore throat. It’s almost summer and I have a bad cold. Sigh.

CPA

I met with a great CPA yesterday to discuss all my financial woes at the moment. The meeting went well. He’s referred me to a bookkeeper he works with to get all my 2006 business and personal books and tax stuff figured out. It’s going to be allot of back and forth, but once we get it all squared away, it will be nice to have the appropriate separation between my business and personal finances.

Stressed

Why am I stressed. I don’t know. Let me count thy ways.

  1. I’ve been trying to sell anything worth over $50 in my house
  2. I’m cleaning/sorting/boxing up my house that I have to be out of in less than two weeks
  3. I’m trying to get myself ready to file chapter 13 bankruptcy
  4. My best employee is on vacation all week and I’m swamped at work
  5. My throat is on fire and I’m exhausted
  6. I’m mad at myself for complaining like this. Mad = more stress
  7. I keep having bad dreams about my last girlfriend (which was like 2 1/2 years ago…)

lame, lame, lame.

OK, enough venting. I need to get back to work…

Everyone has those crappy days. Just remember that many people in easier situations just give up. As long as you are moving forward you are bettering your situation. Baby steps count.

Best of luck

Ahh, Debtkid. Days like this — weeks like this — do indeed suck. You’ll get through it, though. drink lots of water, it’s damn near free and cures a variety of ills.

it looks to me like you are taking really big steps this month — short sale closing, deciding on a debt repayment plan via bankruptcy, sorting out personal and business finances with your CPA, moving out of your house and into who knows where, and selling pretty much everything that’s not nailed down.

With all that transition, no wonder it’s taking a toll on you! Read through that list again and congratulate yourself for making so much progress. :-)

It’s okay to release some of your anger. No big deal. Always remember, you are still relatively health. A little sore throat will go away. Good to see you have laid out plans, directions. good luck.

um…this too shall pass?

It sounds like you’re still plugging away, which is great. You’ll feel better once all this stuff is straightened out, and it sounds like you’re getting good help from your accountant and support from your dad.

Sorry about your cold. Summer colds suck.

From one crazy stressed person to another -

Have you considered either (a) hiring someone or (b) enlisting some of your friends/family to help clean up the house for you? Even if all your friends are busy, paying $10/hour for someone to pack up your stuff makes sense if you can make $30/hour during that time. It may not seem like it makes sense considering the amount of debt you’re in, but anything that frees you up to earn money or helps you become more productive will ultimately benefit you in the end.

Where you’re at doesn’t matter, it’s where you’re headed that matters – and I think that things will turn out well for you in the end. Good luck & ganbatte (as they say here in Japan).

My brother is helping me pack up stuff today (Wed. now). I’m feeling a bit better. I about died in the afternoon, my temp was probably over 101. I think its just my body telling me I need to take it easy for a day or so.

Thanks for all the encouragement. Alot of stuff IS wrapping up in the next few weeks. It will be big to get the chapter 13 filed and the short sale all completed. But both will move me closer to sanity and dealing with all the debt.

If you’re going into BK, you may have made a mistake in involving your CPA at this point. If I remember correctly, you hire your attorney first, with whom you have protected communication, and he/she hires the CPA who reports to them. Otherwise, the CPA can communicate any/all financial matters, as there is no protected communication with a CPA.

Had the meeting with our insolvency practitioner yesterday, and was advised that bankruptcy was the right thing for me, but our creditors wouldn’t want me to do so.

Wrote about it in my blog. But in summary, I have decided not to take that route (foolish pride, as it would work out better for me to go BK, and can avoid the stigma).

Have you negotiated before filing? An offer of something may be accepted and affordable. The worst they can say is no?

It looks like are gonna be issues with some of the business debt and weather that would fall under a personal BK filing by myself. It’s time to give Wellsfargo and WAMU another call on the 20K and 30K loans…

I still don’t understand you filing bk. You can work yourself out of this. Pay each creditor something each month. That should prevent them from suing. Once you file, you’ll have that stigma for the rest of your life. You’ll always have to check that little checkbox asking if you’ve filed bk.

If you like, I can send through some of the mails I used to set off the negotiating?
