Yup, this applies to my work. There are certain things I want to do at work but for right now I know I need to not make any waves and stay the course in order to get my promotion. There’s way too much politics in big corporate offices. Generally the safest thing you can do is nothing.

same here… i just can’t SIT DOWN and DO NOTHING. my boyfriend is the master of DOING NOTHING though which i totally envy

As a writer, I can vouch for the long periods of “doing nothing.” You send submissions and queries and wait for responses. Editors and agents read your manuscripts and you must wait. You can’t fiddle with the manuscript or you’ll fiddle it to death. The only solution is to find something ELSE to do.

Funny thing is, I can relate in a personal way about a girl (of course). And how they need space and time and all you want to do is be proactive. Works same on multiple levels with other stuff as well so.

This reminds of being in the Marines. As a sniper, once you establish your position, you must do absolutely nothing. You can’t fiddle with your gear or make phone calls or write letters. You just sit there and do nothing and wait. And once the target appears, BAM.
