I had a friend in town this week, staying with me for 4 days. I started to get completly brain stir crazy in the evening of Day 2. The fact that I couldn’t work as much as I normally do, combined with the fact that I was always around someone…it drove me nuts. I have an employee working til 5 today….and then I am free! Oh, freedom.
I can’t function without alone time. I’ve gotten so acclimated to spending the majority of my time alone (and not talking to anyone), this week was a complete overload. It will be at least a few days before I’m back up to speed.
And to top it off….it’s been a crazy week outside of my social life:
- I got my paperwork into the IRS (meeting next week)
- my Alpha business is having a huge week and another big call with a client tomorrow and
- I may be accepting a half-time W-2 position.

I know exactly what you mean. I hate having someone follow me around and the only reprieve is the bathroom!
Hopefully, you’ll be able to rejuvenate soon! Best of luck!
@ Maria – I went to the bathroom 2 times when I didn’t need too! Just for the reprieve! Glad I’m not too nuts…
Hey DebtKid,
I know how you feel. Whenever I get really into working on a topic, I get so completely wrapped up in the jobs I have planned that I start to see everything else as a delaying annoyance.
I know the debt must be a lot of pressure. Please don’t forget to make time for fun, too. Sometimes the best way to be more productive is take some time off to refresh your perspective. I speak from personal experience on that account.
Finally, someone who is as anti-social as I am…. My wife could live life surrounded by all her friends and never be alone… me, I’m perfectly happy in a house all by myself(for a while anyway)
I started browsing getrichslowly blog and happen to see a link and landed here. Read couple of posts and have to say your blog is somewhat inspiring. My debt is not all that bad, but still I started living frugally within the last 6 months to payoff credit card debt (although the total debt is nothing compared to yours). My income grew within last 6 months and my expenses came down (shared living), now I am on right track to eliminate credit card debt (hopefully within next 4 months. Woohoo).
I go absolutely crazy when we have people stay with us, which is often. In my normal day I cannot get started without a minimum hour to myself so when we have house guests I always try and get up early to walk the dog or go off on some real or pretend errand. Anything to sit and have quiet time alone. Good luck with the big call tomorrow!
