@ Peachy - I totally agree about "shopping" at Goodwill. It's the only place I actually feel good about when I make a purchase now. For so many things (cookware, clothes, vases) you can get amazing deals.

"biggest cheapskate" is not an insult! Way to go Peachy. I like to think I'm "fantastically frugal"...

A friend of mine, my 13 year old and I did a thrift store day this past weekend in a nearby city. A major chain was having a half-off weekend, we hit four locations, and found fabulous stuff. I spent about $100, and we got 40 new items; stuff for everyone in our family. All kinds of stuff including American Eagle jeans that are in the store now for $2!!!! I can assure you that we will not go back to our old ways. My teen would rather have plenty of cool used clothes than a few cool new ones. Plus we found some really unique things. So fun, and no guilt when you are paying cash and getting such fantastic deals. I haven't enjoyed shopping in years, but I think that I am hooked again..... except now I don't even want to pay full price at Goodwill. And for the first time in my life, one of my friends told me that I am her "biggest cheapskate" friend. A compliment I will gladly accept...

I have been cooking like a crazy woman lately. My grandmother taught me well but I had put all those talents in the closet for the past few years. My favorite yet is an apple crisp that I should have served insulin with it was so sweet! Good post and I'm needing to vary my menu this week. There is such a thing as too much chicken.
