New Site Design…What Do You Think?

Yikes….obviously web design isn’t my forte! Oh well. I like it. And it’s my blog, so there. No, really, is it that lame? Too over the top? I got waaaay too into last night. But it was fun.
I do not like the new design. It is too “cartoony” and devalues the purpose of your blog and message.
I think you would have gotten much better results had you put a couple of inbetween options on there, like its pretty good, and it is pretty bad. That way you would see the spectrum. I didnt know which of the 2 to pick because there are some things I liked and others I didnt. But ya i agree with the above, too cartoony for what you are trying to talk about.

I agree with getting rid of the avatar guy. I just needing some picture there. I’ll get something else. I’ll keep making some tweaks if I have time. The important thing here for this blog is keeping me on track, not having the most pretty design in the world.
If you have Internet Explorer, I would recommend seeing how your site looks when you use alternate font sizes. I keep my viewer at the “Larger” size because it keeps me from getting eyestrain. And with larger font, the header is messed-up.
I’m also not fond of the colorshifting on this entry field. If I move my mouse out of the field’s window, the text turns a very light gray. The combination makes the text harder to see. That’s less of an issue than the header, but it’s still not ideal.
Actually, to be honest, I preferred the way it looked before… but if you had a good time messing about with the layout and thinking about how you wanted to express yourself onscreen… well, that’s never a bad thing!
OK, I ditched the cheesy avatar guy and streamlined the header and page a bit. It looks much simpler now. I like it better.
why is the header messed up? is it just me?
The site’s title really should be a hyperlink to the home page. Overall, I like the clean layout. There are some usability issues (like the graying text Miri pointed out), but fixing those issues might consume more time than you can spare right now.
