Appearing to be desperate for a GF usually keeps it from happening. It either "just happens" or you make a plan and use a resource that is good for that.

P.S. When people ask how we met, I make up some story about me seeing her through the periscope of a submarine while she was on the beach saving whales from an oil spill.

After I graduated college I had to move around frequently, so I decided that I wouldn't get involved in a relationship at those locations unless something "just happened". Strangely, nothing ever just happened. So right before I turned 25, I knew I was moving to Seattle for a while and I made a conscious decision to be more sociable and proactively search for a girlfriend. I was going to sign up for some dating site after I got settled in. That seemed more logical than randomly meeting someone who happened to be at the same point in life as me and shared the same interest. Before I even got to Seattle I was perusing the craigslist ads as part of my proactive approach and saw one that struck me as right up my alley. I had a date for Friday night before I even had a place to live. We've been dating for a year and a half now. I don't necessarily recommend CL as the solution, but a big part of dating is finding people available and letting them know you are available.

@ Rick - Yes, I agree with what you commented. I don't feel like I NEED a girl, rather that I am finally in a place where I could be open to one. I'm happy being single, and I'm sure I could continue being so for a long time. I actually think it would be very good for me though to be in a deeper relationship. Anyway, we'll see how it goes!

You sound like me... every week, every day, every thought, always about finding a girlfriend. And never any success.

You're a Christian, right? Just trust in God. Let God fill that hole in you. God will lead you through life. He will comfort you. Let Him be all that you want and need. And then He will provide you with a girlfriend.

Just remember, a girl can't fulfill any need that God can not.
