I Want A Kid

by debt kid on October 15, 2008

Well, not my own kid, but I do want to sponsor a kid from World Vision. Today is Blog Action Day, as I’m sure you’ve noticed across the "blogosphere" (nerd alert!). This year the focus in on poverty.

If you don’t already, consider sponsoring a child at World Vision.

Back in the day, and by that I mean last year, I had a number of readers want to donate to help me buy a fridge or a mattress. While I truly appreciate the gesture, there are so many children who are in much worse situations than I have ever, or likely ever will be in.

So, make a difference, get cool letters from your kid….sponsor.

I’ve enjoyed sponsoring a kid for the last few years. It really makes a difference in the community and then you can build a kind of friendship with the kid. Unfortunately, my new one (my old project ended) is only 2 years old, so I’m not sure what to do yet…whether to write to him or maybe his parents. Or draw him pictures..

@ Mrs. Micah ~ Nice! lol…you should draw him pictures, I’m sure he’d appreciate it.

I like Compassion Intl better, but both organizations do good work. I actually worked with Compassion this past summer in the rural areas of Kenya, and it was an amazing experience.

If you do sponsor a child, and you can eventually find enough money to go visit him, this will mean the world to the child. I would highly recommend it.

@ Rick – That’s really cool. When I was in college I had a child from Compassion Intl. I would love to be able to visit my child (when I get one!) someday.
