Summer always seems to be a crappy time of the year for me.
A girlfriend dumps me. I get a medical discharge from the air force. I lose a ton of money day trading. I have to live in my office because I lost my house.
You get the idea.
But this summer is going to be different. I can feel it this time.
I’m paying down debts, one by one. I’m sending off about 6K to the IRS this week to payoff all of 2006 and all but one quarter of 2007, which I am working with my accountant to reduce because I really screwed up my own payroll.
I settled my first collections account this week as well. Over the next few months I plan to do more of those as well. It feels great to knock ‘em down, even if this one was only a few thousand.
So, here’s hoping for a great summer.

Just started reading a bunch of your older posts. Good job for staying on track!
Could you post an updated spreadsheet with your current situation? I don’t mean to sound invasive or anything but “300k in debt” is just so vague. Way to knock one of those debts out though.
Don’t just hope for a good summer, make it a good summer. Sounds like you will have a good one what with all the debt you have paid down, how you have continued to grow your business and how you keep planning for the future ahead. Keep up man! How is Seattle?
Congratulations for paying off your 2006 Tax and clearing a collection account! It’s a great feeling to cross off a debt no matter how small. This is a new summer and your older and wiser this year – you have moved on, so have a great summer.
Congratulations on keeping a positive attitude in the midst of tough times. Good luck!
Thanks everyone for the nice comments!
@ Jim – I’ll post an updated spreadsheet in a week or so after I can update all my May numbers.
