Great list! I've found that monitoring my progress helps me from becoming overwhelmed. I try to focus on how much I've paid off, not how much is remaining.

I think I agree with about half your list of tips. One thing I have found when it comes to debt is if you keep at it, you'll get somewhere with it. If a credit card company is hounding you, it is better to work with them than ignore the problem. Getting a high APR down to a lower one saves a lot of money on interest. I always feel good when I am able to pay more on my debt because I know that it will go away that much faster. Even just a few bucks to even out that balance makes me feel good. I celebrate when a balance goes under 1k too because I know that I'm within hundreds of paying it off. It feels wonderful to pay off a credit card completely though.

The real issue with debt is trying to keep positive that you're doing something proactive. If you dwell on the negative and let it get to you, it will make it much harder to handle. It is also easier to pick one creditor to do serious battle with at a time than trying to fight them off like a ninja. Eventually you will wear out and they will win, so beat the crap out of just one of them at a time.
