My top diet choice is Medifast, not alli (get real food man, not a powder)

Hydroxycut is a popular type of weight loss supplement that claims to increase metabolism and eliminate hunger cravings.  It is commonly sold in convenience stores such as Costco and Wal-Mart,  online stores, and directly through magazine and television advertisements.

There is no ephedra in the United States brand of Hydroxycut, because ephedra is banned by the Food and Drug Administration.  The main ingredients in the regular version of Hyrdroxycut are green tea, garcinia cambogia, gymnema sylvestre, and caffeine.

There is also a caffeine-free form and a form that includes regular Hydroxycut during the day and caffeine-free Hydroxycut at night.  Other forms of Hyrdroxycut include Hydroxycut Hardcore which is marketed to male athletes and bodybuilders, and Hydroxycut Max which is sold to female athletes.

Published studies indicate that the ingredients in Hyrdroxycut aid in weight loss, especially for obese patients.  The stipulation is that one taking Hydroxycut is following a reliable diet and exercise plan for at least two months.

According to studies, obese patients using Hydroxycut lost over four times the amount of weight they would have lost with diet and exercise alone.  Patients using Hydroxycut for eight weeks lost an average of 12 pounds and those using a placebo lost only 3 pounds.  There have been some accusations, however, that these studies are extremely inaccurate.

There has been much controversy in the media about the efficacy of Hydroxycut, especially after a 2003 lawsuit filed by Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon against Hydroxycut’s manufacturer. The lawsuit accused Hydroxycut’s claims of being clinically proven and endorsed by doctors as false.  Nixon also claimed that Hydroxycut did not accurately describe the potential health risks of taking Hydroxycut products, thus creating a danger to consumers since there is a risk of altered heartbeat that could be potentially fatal.  Hydroxycut’s manufacturer denied all accusations, but settled with Nixon for $100,000.

Really, forget a powder or a pill, and just go with Medifast.
