Fat binders have gained tremendous popularity as an alternative approach to natural dieting. Fat binders are chemical compounds that naturally take away excess oils and related compounds from the body. Dietary fat from margarine, butters and various other oils are directly responsible for increasing the fat tissue and cholesterol levels in the body. Proactol is a brand under this category. The main ingredient in the pill is Opuntia ficus-indica fiber complex which is derived from a cactus "Opuntia ficus-indica".
Proactol Scam?
A fat binder is not a fat burner. A fat binder works by absorbing fats in the food you have ingested and then later on throw it away through the process of defecation. It has undergone four successful pre-clinical and clinical studies, in these four observations Proactol was tested under a double blind study. Proactol claims to block 28% of digestible fat, contributing to long term weight loss. The manufacturer claims that it does not affect the absorption of fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. This is only a theoretical assumption. Since Proactol absorbs only 28% of fat intake, it may still be safer to take supplements when taking this pill to prevent malnutrition and under nutrition. Also, this product is to be taken with great caution by diabetic patients. Proactol supports reduction of food cravings by means of blood glucose balancing. It is recommended that diabetic users should consult their physician before taking this product to avoid hypoglycemic attacks.
One downside of the product is its content of trace amounts of oxalic acid, which is found in many other green vegetables. Oxalic acid is a chemical substance that at high concentrations can be dangerous to the health. It is a corrosive chemical that is excreted through the kidneys. If you have kidney disease or kidney stones, avoid taking this product on a regular basis as it may further destroy your kidneys.
You’d be greatly disenchanted if you are looking for miracle result. Proactol is not a wonder pill after all. It is just a plain fat binder that can help assist you in losing extra pounds. A healthy diet and regular exercise will still play a major role if you want to lose weight. It claims a healthy weight loss of 6-18 lbs in a month which is considered safe by dietitians. That means taking Proactol for 3-4 months may give you considerable results though that would also mean shedding a lot of money from your account as this one of the most costly pills in the market.
