My, my ...$70 of library fines ignored? Most cities have a provision for jail time, if you read the fine print.

We keep finding out more and more, don't we? How is it possible to have that much in library fines? Well you can tell a lot about a person by looking at his wallet, I guess. You still do not know how much you owe (library fines), nor how much is in your wallet (gift cards.)

@ Smart Girl - The fine from the library went to collections ages ago. I actually tried to pay it off (it's like $55) a few months back, but I didn't have a check on me and they didn't take a debit card. I'll pay it off sometime soon.

The receipts were all non-business related. No value left on the safeway card as well as the random ones, just forget to clean them out!

@ Jake - You couldn't see it but the OR license was invalidated.

I thought having more than once driver's license tends to be illegal?

Also, Smart Girl, I don't see why they'd suspend your license - it's not driving or vehicle related. With the exception of any possible laws out there to protect libraries, it should only be a civil matter. With my Retention of Library Property charge, there was no possibility of license suspension, for those very reasons. Just the possibility of jail time. And heck, I knew the law better than the cop did.

Word of warning - I think they can suspend your license if you let the library fine continue to remain unpaid.

I understand about the Costco card - always nice to take an afternoon and wander around the store.

A few questions:
Why did you ditch the receipts? Weren't those tax deductible expenses that you want to record and need the receipt and proof of the expense?
Did the Safeway Gift Card have any value left on it? It could have still purchased you a soda or something, why toss it? Same with the "random gift cards - where did these end up?

Always nice to clean the wallet - I never clean mine out often enough!

I unwrapped my wallet a ways back. The ordeal with a little humbling. I still get commenters counting my lip glosses and tampons. *blush*
