About Gamefly
Gamefly is a mail-based subscription service for video games similar in structure to that of Netflix, which uses movies. The concept is simple: users pay a monthly subscription to have the video games sent directly to them in the mail. They can then keep the game as long as they desire without worrying about returning it to the store or incurring late fees.
Once a subscriber is finished with one game and ready for another, he simply puts the game back in the provided envelope and sends it back to GameFly.
At this point, one of two things will happen depending on the subscriber’s location: either the post office will scan a notification into GameFly that the game is on it’s way back (in which case GameFly will immediately send out the user’s next selection), or if the post office does not have the right equipment then the next title will be sent out after they physically receive it in a couple days. The price of the subscription plan is based on how many games a subscriber can have at any time and how often he can trade. The more expensive the plan, the more games you are allowed to keep at one time.
Most popular Gamefly plan
Most subscribers opt to have at least two games at once, so that one is available to play while another one is getting exchanged. In this manner the user always has at least one GameFly game in their possession. The turnaround estimate for this generally takes 3 to 5 days after GameFly sends out the game, so it could potentially take up to a week to receive a new one after the original game is placed in the mail.
If you happen to get a game that is damaged or unplayable in any way, you simply send it back indicating whether you want another copy of the same game sent or rather to proceed on with the next title in your queue.
Gaining in popularity
GameFly is attracting more and more users every day, and as a result their selection is getting bigger and bigger. Give it a try, and if you decided it’s not right for you then it is very easy to cancel; however after subscribing most gamers wonder how they lived without it.
