Getting a Car Loan After Bankruptcy

So, my biggest issue post-bankruptcy is now repairing my credit.

It’s been a little over a year since my Chapter 7 discharge. The good news is that I’m making a lot of money now, the bad news is my credit score still sucks.

When I went through the bankruptcy the car loan I did have stopped reporting on my credit report. I did reaffirm the loan however and continue to make payments.

So, how do I get a car loan that shows up on my credit after bankruptcy?

Well, there are two options I see for myself:

1. Get a new car loan

2. Refinance my discharged loan into a new loan that will report on my credit

I’m leaning more towards #1. I can afford two car payments and so I might just give my current car to my mother while I get a new car and a new car loan for myself.

My credit score is 592 last I checked at myfico.
