OK, the above is a different justme than me (meaning me who posted about setting a goal to "earn" the mattress, and me who posted about living frually becoming a way of life, not a temporary condition.) Since someone else (the poster above who is starting a blog) seems to want this handle, I'm going back to posting as imho. The only reason I changed was I could not remember that handle, but I found it.

I recently (like a day ago) started a blog of my own for many of the same reasons. I also hope to improve my writing skills, and mostly stay focused on debt reduction. I tend to have a hard time sticking with this type of thing, I have never kept a diary/journal, but so far I am enjoying it, and it definitely helps the sanity to write.

I was reluctant to start a blog, but once I did, I got addicted. You're right, there is a real sense of community in blogging, along with accomplishment.

I have to disagree with #1, for I am a miserable prick who doesn't give a damn.

Blogging keeps me sane too. I think the thing I liked most about blogging was getting to meet the people I did. They really are a wealth of information and bloggers are the ones who really help me get my finances on track.

I started posting my daily spending logs and any time I mess up then someone leaves a comment that gets me back on track.

Bloggers help me to get stuff too like coupons so I love it. I enjoy reading your blog so keep on writing.

(I liked the pensieve reference...you could also use a Horcrux reference because part of you lives on in your post.)

For me I think blogging lets one express their opinion on a different level. A lot of kids these days have myspace and facebook, I don't get into those social networking sites though. The adults use the blogosphere, especially PF blogs, which a ton of people all out there trying to figure this money thing out. I also think it's a good support network for when we need a personal boost and know that we're not the only one with debt out there. As we can see in the media crying about recession and the credit crisis, what will they report when the 20 somethings right now have accumulated a massive amount of wealth 50 years later? We almost know for certain that the government isn't going to take care of us come our retirement. I took a decent break from running my own blog but went through a withdrawal period. The blogs can really give me that kick in the butt I need to make it through some tough times.

I've thought MANY times of turning off my blog but it keeps me accountable and I am always surprised at who reads it! :)

Great list! It makes me miss blogging. I used to run an environmental blog but it got to be SO much work. =( I miss it, especially the people that I would meet. Hmmm...maybe someday I'll start another one. Happy Earth Day!
